Budgeting is not fun!

So about 3 or 4 years ago I was introduced to Dave Ramsey. I read his book called The Total Money Makeover and since then I have been trying really hard to follow his advice on budgeting but failing pretty much every month! I would write out our budget for the month and on paper we would have lots of money left over after bills and spending to put in savings but we ended up just spending our saving money too! So every few months I would get a good idea on what else I could do to better follow our budget but that would last about a few weeks.
For years I have revised our budget, changing it to accommodate our needs but still closely following what Dave Ramsey had to say and also incorporating the debt snowball. I think now I finally found what is going to help us stay on track!!
So here is what I do.....maybe it can help ya'll with your budgeting experience....

Since we get paid twice a month, I split up our bills and also our spending money....as you can see, right now we don't have a savings slot because everything that we have left over we put into the credit card to pay it off quickly.....Now for our spending money, you can either withdraw it or do what I did, just write down what you spent because I always forget to go to the bank at the beginning of the month before spending anything....or if you don't feel comfortable carrying so much cash in your wallet, this is something you can do.

October Allowance $____

I have these little allowance sheets that I print out and cut and put in my wallet and when I spend money, I just write -$20 or however much you just spent and it helps me keep track of how much money I have left over to spend....this allowance sheet is also split up like my bills....An allowance for the first two weeks of the month and another allowance for the last 2 weeks of the month.
Now I know that when you are at the store it is sometimes really hard to write down what you just spent, especially if you have kids pulling you every which way! So save your receipts in your wallet or special spot in your purse and write it down when you get a chance....I save Monday's to look at my bank account and write down what I spent so that I don't go over on accident, so pick a day where you are going to sit and make sure everything is going according to plan.
I know it sucks looking at your bank account when you don't have much money but this will save you lots of headache and overdraft fees if you look at your account at least once a week!! It will get easier and easier looking at your bank account if you start being conscience of where your money is going!
One last thing....if you do have money left over each month, you need to write it in your bill section of where you want that money going! If you want it to go to savings then treat that savings account as if it is a bill! All your income needs to have a place to go so you should have a 0 balance at the end of each month!
Well I hope that this blog post wasn't too boring, I am still new at all this and I promise I'll get better! So if you have any questions or would like help with creating your budget just for you let me know and I'll be more than happy to help!
   Thanks for reading!!!!!

Back to Blogging!

So I am back to blogging again :) Even though I wasn't big at it the first time, I think I will be posting a lot more! I love sharing my ideas and sometimes think my ideas are so awesome that everyone should be doing what I am doing hahaha I'm just kidding though, sometimes my ideas are so crazy my husband just looks at me weird LOL.

I want to share a little bit about myself....I've been married for almost 8 years to the crazy love of my life, Luke! We had our ups and downs like all couples, but instead of the first year being hard, the first 2 and half years were hard! We were living in Utah and he became a massage therapist and worked as one for about a year and a half when we decided to move to Texas so that he could find a massage therapist job that pays a whole lot better, so we dragged our two kids with us and moved in with my mom. Well that idea did not work out....he didn't get his license for Texas, so he was out of job for, I think, 6 months until we both had enough and he went online to find jobs and from there decided to join the army! I had no idea what to think of it but we were not at a good place at all as a couple so any job was sounding good. We fought a lot and before he left for basic training we were pretty much talking about divorce.....I hated the idea but felt like maybe that was the best route. Well then he left for his training and just left our relationship up in the air. After a couple weeks we were writing each other and both realizing that we still loved each other but things still weren't 100% great. Sorry, trying to make this part as short as possible LOL..... After about 6 to 9 weeks he was done with basic training and went onto Airborne School which was another 3 weeks. I visited him the last week of his training to watch him jump out of planes and so the kids could see him too. The kids loved seeing all the paratroopers jump out of the planes, especially Aitius! On the last day of his jump, I found out some things that I didn't like and pretty much gave Luke an ultimatum, it was he either wanted to be with me or not, simple as that....that was when he really decided that he did not want to lose me and from then on out our relationship was getting better and better. We have our occasional fight about stupid things but things are so good now that I am thankful that he did join the army because if he didn't, and we didn't have that time apart that we needed, we would surely be divorced. So as much as I say I hate the army, I am thankful for it!

We are now pregnant with our third child and are so excited! It took me over 3 years to finally decide to have another one and I am so glad we waited because our other two are 7 and 6 and so independent that having this third one will be easy to take care of without having to worry too much about the other two, though being a mother, I will always worry about them and making sure they are doing the right thing. But I know they will be good little helpers and love their little sister so much!

I recently finished up school in medical billing and coding and took my test to become officially certified! I did pass the first time I took the test which made me really happy because I did not want to pay to take it again! It does feel good having a certificate even though I am not using it! It makes me feel accomplished :)

That is pretty much my life up to this point....Luke is still in the army until June 2016 and I can't wait until that day to come! Even though this job has given us everything we need, I am ready for him to be out and move onto the next phase of our life. He plans on joining the police force once he is done and he is excited about that because before he seemed scared about what he was going to do when he got out but now he can't wait! He is not a desk job kind of person, he likes to be moving around helping others....so pretty much he was born to be a civil servant which is an honorable thing and not many people are up to be a part of that life. He is a really good man!

Well that is it for now....what I am up to now, I am trying to find good at home jobs and I hear blogging is a good way to start! So this is me blogging.....hope my story wasn't too boring to read....I promise, the more I write out to people the better I'll get....this story doesn't have much meat to it, I know, but ya'll don't need to know the whole story ;)
